PPS vs PTFE Filter Bags: Which One Should You Choose?
“PPS or PTFE?” is a common question, but it is not the best first question. PPS and PTFE are both used in demanding dust collection systems, yet they solve different problems and sit in different cost ranges.
The better starting point is the gas condition: moisture, oxygen, acid gas, temperature and dust behavior.
Where PPS Often Makes Sense
PPS filter bags are often reviewed for coal-fired boilers, dryers and moisture or acid gas conditions where standard polyester is not stable enough. PPS can be a practical choice when temperature is controlled and the chemistry is within its working range.
It is not a universal corrosion solution. Oxygen level, operating temperature and abnormal gas conditions still need to be checked.
Where PTFE Often Makes Sense
PTFE filter bags are considered when chemical resistance, fine dust control or strict emission requirements become more demanding. PTFE can be useful for waste incineration, chemical powder and other severe gas conditions, but cost is higher and construction details still matter.

Do Not Decide By Material Name Alone
A PPS bag with the wrong finish can still blind. A PTFE bag with poor sealing can still leak. If the cage is rough or the top fit is wrong, both materials can fail early. The whole system matters.

- Continuous and peak temperature.
- Moisture, oxygen and acid gas condition.
- Dust type, particle size and stickiness.
- Emission target and pressure drop trend.
- Current bag material, bag size and failure photos.
